Leila starts off promising but derails quickly with narration that is monotonous and a script that has no surprises. Handmaid's Tale used a lot of flashbacks to show how society changed. This is not the case in Leila and it seems like watching a show after you have missed previous episodes.
The cast is good and acting is decent but not enough to lift the script. Setting the show far off in the future where people still use more or less the same technology makes no sense either.
Brave attempt by Netflix to produce Leila despite knowing the content would be branded propaganda and might cause controversy. I guess they hoped at least this would create controversy and lead to viewership but that hasn't been the case.
