So the writers obviously did not take the time to learn about diabetes or care for a diabetic patient. When her mom has what appears to be a low blood glucose moment, her brother (a former surgeon!!) Instructs her to give her mother INSULIN. This would, of course, lead to diabetic coma. When people don't have their isulin for a long period of time they get high blood glucose, which leads to ketoacidosis. Highly recommend getting a medical consultant!
