Steptoe and Son: Pilgrim's Progress (1965)
Season 4, Episode 7

Poignant and funny.

Pilgrim's Progress is a wonderful sign off to the fourth series. It has some wonderfully poignant moments at the beginning, with the pair discussing their respective war time experiences, Albert of course in the Great War, for Harold, and the public, the Second world was very much a living and recent memory. I would imagine the first half of this episode resonated with many millions that tuned in to watch it.

Of course events go downhill when the pair board the plane, and Albert encounters an American, and French couple, diplomatic incident almost follows.

I thought this was excellent. 9/10
