Review of Pusher

Pusher (1996)
6/10
Not bad

Pusher is the typical european indie crime/drug addicts movie from the nineties, with the same precise atmosphere of many other movies (too bad I can't remember the titles of indie movies from 25 years ago). This brand is made of strong doses of realism, explicit dialogues, poor locations, morally corrupt next-door people, a grim overall feeling and a nihilistic tone.

It makes for a couple of hours of entertainment, and surely has its cinematographic qualities, with sharp editing, intimate cameras and good acting. Despite not showing major twists, the plot will keep you entertained: since it's "realistic", you cannot really refer to any cliché. But in being realistic while depicting the everyday life of a small gangster, Pusher is quite slow and mildly boring. Overall, it's not the masterpiece some people say.
