Collateral meets Slasher

Warning: Spoilers
This above-average horror-thriller tale pits a suave hitman against a group of airheaded millennials. I immediately thought of one of my all-time favorite films Collateral with the Stockholm Syndrome subplot between the assassin and the bored working girl. Their subplot is basically the same as that one, well sans the parts of Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx making out with each other! LOL Then there's the parallel subplot of the bumbling trio 20-somethings with their thinly veiled attempts at bringing levity to the situation. I kept thinking their parts were very much reminiscent of self-aware slasher flicks like Scream.

Honestly, I couldn't tell if this flick (the first of an anthology horror series) was meant to be scary, funny, or both. Actually, while I found myself eye-rolling at some of the dialogue, there was a good chunk of that was pretty witty and funny. Horror is my favorite film genre and Collateral is one of my all-time favorite films, so combining the two was a treat. I preferred the relationship between the hitman and his #1 fan over the "funny" millennials, who annoyed me much of the time. Thankfully, there was enough serious to balance out the stupid. Hitman didn't mess around, just like Vincent from Collateral.
