Batwoman: The Rabbit Hole (2019)
Season 1, Episode 2
5/10
An improvement.
14 October 2019
Last week I said the Batwoman Premiere was very bad. My expectations were low for this episode, and I was ready to be bored, and annoyed... HOWEVER I was surprised to say this was actually a significant improvement from the last episode. The performances of most actors in this show still aren't too good, but they were a big improvement over last episode. Alice is probably the best performed character, and just most entertaining character in general. She's definitely what's keeping me at least somewhat engaged. Ruby Rose still feels wooden in this role, and I do hope she improves, because she'll really drag the show down. This episode was just much better structured and edited. That doesn't mean it's well structured and edited, it's still not good, it's just mediocre, which is actually an improvement. The flashbacks were just better done. I do think they need a better transition though, because there was a specific scene where it kept cutting back to the flashbacks and it was just excessive. I was also very surprised to see these characters get somewhat developed. I was expecting these quirky characters like Kate's step sister to go underdeveloped, and mostly used as a plot device, but she actually had her emotional moment. Was it cliched? Yes, all the characters are still very cliched, and one note, but they are being developed. As a whole this episode was just much better. There isn't much to say because I don't want to really spoil it for those who are still on edge on wether to continue the show or not, but if Batwoman continues to improve, it might just be worthwhile.
