All you can hope for in a fan film

Warning: Spoilers
"Michael vs Jason: Evil Emerges" is a title that makes it obvious for everybody with just a little ounce of interest in horror films that this one features the iconic Mike Myers and Jason Voorhees. It is a really new movie released back in April 2019 and it scored about 10 million views in 6 months and now stands at over 12. Really impressive. It is an Australian movie in the English language, although thanks to the muteness of the two characters there is hardly no speaking in here, only we hear voices every time when the duo runs into humans and also at the very end the voice in Jason's head. The name of the production company is "Radical Talent" and this sound accurate to me. The outcome here is definitely showing some nice talent. Still I don't like it when filmmakers keep rambling on Youtube that they had no money really doing this already looking for an early excuse. We know of course this is not a 20th Century Fox film and if you already use some really famous characters to propel the popularity of your film, then don't put yourself down right from the start. You owe it these characters to deliver quality. And this film here did, so there is really no reason for apologizing whatsoever. The writer and director is Luke Pedder and looking at how often the name Pedder shows up here, it is clearly a family affair and they did not cast too many other actors. For example the two central characters are also played by Pedders and the director is not one of them. Would have been difficult to direct anyway with such heavy make-up/costume. Okay as for the story, it is not too much for almost half an hour, but that is okay. Early on we have a scene when Myers is in custody, but quickly gets away of course and kills everybody. Except one and when he follows that one, their leader, he meets Jason for the first time because Jason is the one who ends up killing him. In the second half at some point a family of hillbilly property owners show up too and they are not exactly in the right place at the right time gently-speaking. Then the fight between Mike and Jason continues. It's a lot of fighting as both seem almost immortal looking at the damage done and how they stand up each and every time again. And this also includes the very end when you think it is over, but nope. The last shot indicates there could be a sequel and looking at the film's popularity it is bound to happen rather sooner than later. I just wonder what they will do. They cannot basically make another half hour that is two thirds fighting between the duo, but real side stories also would not fit. So surprise me guys. I liked this first here, the fight sequences were entertaining thanks to the different locations, different gadgets and the changing in terms of who has the upper hand. I am rather Team Mike Myers, so I did not like the outcome too much, but yeah like I said. Even with one hand gone, this is apparently far from over. I just wonder how they could live through all that, especially Myers, because there is blood circulation going on. And as a consequence lots of bloodshed and also very violent sequences in the sense of we see throats being cut, so not a film for your kids. But hey what to expect, it is horror of course and if you have seen any of the big blockbuster movies these characters are from, then you will not being your 10yo. But you should watch it. I am not a huge fan of the franchises featured in here, but I still liked it overall. Thumbs up. Definitely one of the best fan films of the 2010s and actually better than many big budget movies.
