Sam had seen enough to convince her of the identity of the perpetrators, despite the disbelief and failings of the complacent and near incompetent Police. This feels like the episode where Sam becomes the crime solving Pathologist, she would take on a whole new role from here on, some argued she did too much Police work, others loved her crime solving skills.
It's an intensely sad story, with some horrific Revelations, and a dramatic conclusion. I always thought this was one of the most memorable storylines. I always wanted Sam to tell Peter where to go.
Burton was at her very best here, she was terrific, charismatic and possessing a huge command of the screen.
