In my opinion, the ending (commentary on the perfect woman) conflicted on everything that Fellini was leading the viewer to believe.

Maybe I misunderstood, but, using the story of Snaporaz who was in an unhappy marriage and cheating, it would seem that Fellini was saying that our past experiences, both good and bad, form and or expose who we are and that we are or should be our own perfect woman who we seek to attain. Meaning we should first love ourselves completely knowing and fulfilling our needs before falling in love with anyone else. But, the movie ends with Snaporaz seeing that his wife was the perfect woman.
