Tum, A Tragic Hero.

Warning: Spoilers
Many people missed the point of this movie. This movie is not a love story, its a tragedy. Our Tragic Hero Tam, is a gay boy who is continuously loosing sight of reality as his family mentally and physically abuses him for his sexual orientation. His imaginations created an alter ego, the better version of himself Phum. Phum is comfortable with his sexuality, proudly left his family for not accepting him, he's strong and confident, everything Tum is not. Tum was fading in and out of hallucinations, there are signs you can spot. Every time Tum is mentally distressed he starts hallucinating. When his mom lectured him after he was beaten up he started hallucinating, when he was beaten up by his school mates he started hallucinating, when his brother lectured him about his dad's gun he started hallucinating. Tum's first hallucination in the movie, was the instance he created Phum, that's where his story begins. Tum comes back from his hallucinations every time he pulls into the back of his house on the motorcycle. The imagery of paradise vs wasteland in the land that Phum claimed was his, was representative of Tum's rotting sanity. It was in that Land that Tum had killed his father, his first victim. His Second Victim was his brother, he was the mold on the wall of the pool that Tum tried to get rid of. His brother was also the one who tried to choke him, that why his hallucination interpreted it as drowning. When you give someone CPR after they drown, you don't blow in their mouth because you want the water in their lungs out. But Tum didn't drown, his brother tried to choke him. His mother gave him CPR that's why in the hallucination Phum is blowing into his mouth. The "dog" that Phum had beaten up and choked in a plastic bag (in reality it was Tum that had done all of that) was his mother. After he killed his mother his brain, to justify all of this created the mob. Only then, when the blame was completely off his back can Tum come out of his hallucinations. Remember that Tum walked down stairs to the horrendous scene, because he never left, he was there in the house all along. while it might seem like the time interval throughout which the story happened is extremely long, it actually happened within the span of a day. Tum commits suicide, by drowning in the river, an action endorsed by Phum many times. This is common among Schizophrenic patients. They all say that when they try to commit suicide, it is because they're alter ego had urged them to either walk into a door of light, or swim under water. This movie was truly mind blowing, it had me thinking at 100 miles per hour.
