Review of Assault on Precinct 13

I don't get with what's all the bad reviews about this movie, I thought it was excellent. Now, I've never John Carpenter's original movie, but maybe I should after seeing this. Ethan Hawke (Training Day) leads a superb cast to help fight off corrupt Detroit P.D. cops who are trying to get crime lord Marion Bishop (Laurence Fishburne, AKA Morpheus from The Matrix) from trying to testify against them for their dirty deeds. Other cast members include Drea de Matteo (Joey and Sons of Anarchy), Maria Bello (Abduction and A History of Violence), Brian Dennehy (Romeo + Juliet), Ja Rule (The Fast and the Furious), John Leguizamo (Spawn and Romeo + Juliet), Aisha Hinds, Gabriel Byrne (Quest for Camelot) and Kim Coates (Sons of Anarchy) really packs a punch.
