Herbie Rides Again
27 February 2020
Herbie is back! With the same director in Robert Stevenson and screenwriters Bill Walsh and Gordon Buford. Alfonzo Hawk (Keenan Wynn) seems to want to put up shopping centres everywhere. His latest brainchild for San Francisco is the Hawk Plaza, but he just needs one final building and its owner Mrs. Steinmetz (Helen Hayes) to sell him the property to do so. In steps his semi-clueless nephew Willoughby Whitfield (Ken Berry) to try and get her to sell. But wait a minute. Is this not a Herbie movie. Well, Mrs. Steinmetz (who also is the aunt of Tennessee Steinmetz who was in the original THE LOVE BUG) owns Herbie and he is not ready to move.

Not as fun as the original, but just as silly if not maybe even sillier. This movie might be the king of green screening. Every scene where something big happens with Herbie they use the green screen effect, which kind of takes you out of the picture with how movies are made nowadays. If you or your kid loved the original give it a shot, it is worth watching. Also starring Stefanie Powers.
