5/10
It had potential, but ended up ultimately as a mediocre experience...

When I sat down to watch the 2017 South Korean action movie "A Special Lady" (aka "Mi-ok"), I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I found the movie by sheer random luck, and given my fascination and love for the Asian cinema, of course I found the time to sit down and watch this.

While "A Special Lady" was entertaining enough, it just wasn't an outstanding movie. This was because of the storyline, it proved enjoyable enough, but it was lacked that special ingredient to make it outstanding or even making it memorable.

Sure, there were some good and interesting enough moments here and there throughout the movie, but sadly they just drowned out in the abundance of mediocrity that permeated the rest of the movie.

What works for the movie was the rather nice ensemble of casted actors and actresses. Just a shame that they had so very little to work with, truth be told.

This is the type of movie that you will watch once, then never return to watch again. And the movie failed to make a lasting impression, despite of having some nice actors and actresses on the cast list, so the movie will just drift slowly into oblivion.

I am rating "A Special Lady" a very mediocre five out of ten stars. This wasn't a particularly outstanding movie experience from writer and director An-kyu Lee.
