Ex-gangsters now working at a movie drive-in theatre start start getting killed off in gory, imaginative ways. There is a lot going on in Ruby - gangsters, a drive in theatre, revenge, bloody deaths, a ghost and supernatural possession, There is also a healthy dose of humour throughout, though it is no comedy. I first saw it years ago on TV and recall that it left quite an impression. Just watched it for a second time, on VHS. Ruby is a sort of drama/horror that mixes the likes of The Exorcist and Carrie with the slasher sub genre. I liked the 1951 setting, though they screwed up screening the film "Attack of the 50ft Woman" which was released in 1958. Piper Laurie, fresh off Carrie, is very good in the title role
Ruby deserves to be better known, it may not be perfect but it is an enjoyable, late night horror movie.
