The man within the bird and grouch
25 March 2020
I was six years old when Sesame Street first aired. It became a wonderful part of my childhood. And I loved Big Bird. Still do for that matter. Oscar was another favorite. I didn't know until I was an adult that they were the the same actor.

This is a very enjoyable documentary. It lets you meet Caroll Spinney through his family and friends, along with his personal reflections . Another great part was seeing the remaining original cast members from Sesame Street. We are all adults now, but seeing those familiar, if older, faces made me feel like I was stepping back in time and a little girl again.

I never realized how hard it was to wear the Big Bird costume and how much work went into playing the part. Seeing how much he enjoyed it despite the difficulty was lovely.

I must admit, when he sang "It's Not Easy Being Green" as a tribute to Jim Henson tears poured down my face. It's so hard to believe that both of these wonderfully talented men are gone. They brought so much joy to generations of people and will forever live on through their work and in the hearts of many.
