Island of Bryan (2019– )

Enjoyable Overall

I've always enjoyed watching any of the projects Bryan Baeumler is involved with, and this show is no exception. I found it really interesting and unique to watch my favourite Canadian contractor tackle a project in a locale so far-flung from his usual wheelhouse; I also really appreciate how they don't sugarcoat the fact that a lot of things went wrong. Where the show loses some points is how screen-time focus is divided between construction, and the reality show-style depiction of his family life - I feel we see a bit too much of the rest of the Baeumlers, and also how his wife Sarah seems to be sneaking more and more into the spotlight. I'm not sure if it's simply the way the show is deliberately cut and edited, or if it's truly her personality, but I can't imagine how painful it must be to work with her (let alone be married to her!). On the whole, it's an enjoyable show, but be prepared for your eyes to roll back into your sockets every time Sarah's blonde head bobs into frame.
