Warning: Spoilers
SPOILER ALERT: OK, say that you are Elliot Robinson (Van Johnson). You discover that your beloved daughter Doris (Betsy Russell) is a psycho killer who has murdered two people, and who would presumably still like to kill her original intended target, Linda Hamilton. What do you do? Think carefully! A. Get yourself to a safe location and call the police immediately. The police will especially appreciate this, because one of the victims of psycho daughter was a police detective. B. Try to cover for your killer daughter. You try to frame Linda Hamilton by making it look like she has a split personality and the crazy personality did the murders. Then you lure Linda to your office and give her a drug overdose that would have been fatal but for Jessica. Of course, this will do nothing to help killer daughter's extreme mental illness. BIG HINT: B is the WRONG answer! But that's what Van does. The problem here is that the plot is a big over-reach. The writer tried way too hard to craft a big twist on that old chestnut, the split personality where evil half does the crimes. So, this one is a clunker, but it's still watchable for the always-good Angela Lansbury.
