The greatest prime time network drama begins its slow, steady plod to utter mediocrity culminating in the arrival of John Stamos in the years to come. Between the overly melodramatic storylines, the coming Charlie Brown characters and the force fed pseudo political issues we're expected to believe make up life in socially adjusted America, ER takes off for its victorious jump over the shark before landing next episode. Easily a top 5 episode pairing in the history of this series, it's literally heart stopping, both for a favorite character and the show itself.
