Music Overpowers Narrator
7 May 2020
This could have been an excellent and informative production, but it was not. In the first episode on Judaism, they did not use the proper names for Jewish holy days meaning the viewer had no idea which holiday Ben Kingsley was talking about. Much of this pervades in the Eastern faith episodes. In almost every episode, the viewer could barely hear the narrator over the musical background, a phenomenon that pervades many a modern documentary.

This was supposed to be an educational production but instead it was a poor musical. It was a chore to listen to because the music was so loud. The soundtrack was poorly mixed. I cannot give it more than 3 stars because it fails to engage the audience because of the music.

16x9 productions were being regularly used when this was produced, just not HD. Why 4x3 formatting was used is beyond me. It was like looking though a buttonhole.
