Solar Opposites (2020– )
9/10
Season 1 Review- very enjoyable
9 May 2020
A very funny, entertaining, and often consistent cartoon- Solar Opposites more than earns its stance as another adult cartoon from the creator of Rick and Morty, and is certainly worth a watch and a laugh. The show is very well animated, and its cast of characters are very enjoyable to watch. It contains familiar story elements from the likes of other adult cartoons (such as Rick and Morty) but it's characters are really what differentiate the show and make it something very unique and special. My favorite character throughout is a small little yellow glob named Pupa, who is equally adorable, and possible the most unique little element to brace the show throughout. The show is easily watchable, and besides maybe the very first episode, it's very consistent, which is both surprising and one of the reasons why it is so easily enjoyable. Its voice performances are very well done, my favorite of which being Sean Giambrone as Yumyulack who I feel fits his character a lot more than I had anticipated. The show does seem to struggle with becoming something totally original in terms of plot and story from time to time, with a few episodes themes and devices feeling all to familiar to other cartoons like it. In the end however, Solar Opposites is a very enjoyable cartoon romp that is very consistent and easily watchable. It may feel a bit too familiar at times, but for the most part, it's a very unique and solidly entertaining cartoon that is more than worth your time. My Rating: 9.5/10
