It may look pretty, but this movie is abusive and mean-spirited.
If anything, I'd think this movie probably just terrifies and confuses children who need help escaping abusive living situations into remaining silent.
What is the message..."If your parents don't feed you, make sure you have a good new parent lined up before asking for help or you'll wind up in solitary confinement?"..."If your parents abuse you, deal with it yourself?". "Any adult you like more than your parents has automatic custody rights, so move in with them?"
