I was happy to hear that the series was coming. It picks up basically at the final scene of the movie where Hiro finds Baymax's control chip in the rocket fist. Then Hiro manages to reconstruct Baymax and the team goes on to become the city's masked defenders. Some are griping about the series animation VS the movie animation. The movie was 100% digitally animated whereas the series is hand drawn. To do the series in digital would be cost prohibitive even for Disney.
The new characters are definitely great additions, and how the core characters have evolved is great too. Some storylines are pretty serious and some are just fun. They strike a nice balance. Overall I find the series very enjoyable.
