Very enjoyable if not a great entry!

Warning: Spoilers
After being disappointed by the previous episode "An Old Curse", I really wished I'd see a good "Death in Paradise" . "Death Onboard" is a perfectly enjoyable entry to this series, but it's not by any means a standout.

Let's start with good, shall we?

. The production values are great as always. The episode looks good and sounds wonderful (the music is so fitting here). The acting is good. Everyone's giving enjoyable performances. Especially Sara Martins and Ben Miller, who are amazing together.

. I really liked that "Death Onboard" tried to explore the bond between Camille and Richard. One can tell they make a good pair... Also, the humor's quirky this time around and the jokes mostly land. The murder mystery's solid too with clever twists and turns.

But...

.Again, there are clues in this mystery, which were way too obvious. The beer bottle and "I'm here to collect the knives" hints gave too much away. That's why the killer's identity (ship's cook) didn't struck me at all.A little bit more could have done with characters too. Especially the one, who wants to become a cop.

. The subplot about illegal rum-makers was not the cleverest. Even though it kind of helps Richard to solve the case, I did not care about it before.

Overall, good, but great episode.
