JSA grows larger in this build up episode, less action but great character drama

The episode begins with a flashback, a great one. It introduces one important character, Rick Tyler, the son of the late Hourman. This wasn't action packed but a more character driven. The plot didn't really move forward that much but we are following Courtney and she wants to remake the JSA and she needs more people. I like Rick Tyler, the actor who play him does a good job at capturing the emotional weight. Beth Chapel is a tricky one, so far I haven't really liked her as she's annoying to say the least, diversity is good though. She'll grow on us, I got a good feeling about it. There were one character that didn't have much screen time and it was the amazing stepfather Pat. He's the heart of the show and in my opinion the most likeable, the arc he got was important though, but I want more of him.

This was actually a great episode, I didn't really notice any bad writing. As it wasn't a very action packed we didn't really get to see many visual effects but the Dr. Mid-Nite AI and goggles was visually impressive and an interesting set of "powers". I think this will be the last build up episode for awhile, the villains have been planning and I believe next episode will be more action packed.
