Good, but not great!

Warning: Spoilers
The seventh season of "Death in Paradise" has not been very impressive for me. Only "Murder on the Day of the Dead" has been a very good story. After "Meditated in Murder" was a bore, I really hoped the next entry to be a lot better. Fortunately, "Dark Memories" is a solid "Death in Paradise" episode, though not great by any means.

Let's start with good, shall we?

. The production values are great as usual. The episode looks and sounds wonderful. The actors have more to do than the previous time around and the acting's solid. Tobi Bakare gives his best performance as JP. Ardal O'Hanlon continues to be a likable too.

. The murder mystery is pretty intriguing with twists, turns and some very quirky humor. Really liked the themes touched upon here!

But....

. The beginning sequence of this episode is very off-putting, because it sets up a much more intense episode than we got. To be honest, after a dark start, "Dark Memories" continues the same way as many "Death in Paradise" episodes before.

. The story does not get properly going at first as well. In the beginning the case seemed a bit too familiar.

. The solution, which is very different one indeed- we never see the murderer getting caught-, has an enjoyable identity of the killer ( Samuel), but the motive for the murder is a generic one at best. Also, I felt the deed was done with way too much chance. The killer just happened to see the row the victim had, happened to go in, check on the victim, see the money and happened to hit the poor man in the same place as the previous attacker.

Overall, good, but not a perfect episode.
