The Aesthetic Doesn't Make Up for Its Disappointing Story
19 July 2020
It was pretty mediocre. I have watched many bl dramas and this isn't the worst by far but it's still pretty low for me. Mainly cause of the disappointment.

This is a short web series and many of the things wrong with it has to do with length but honestly, those problems could be remedied even without extending the length.

It had too much going on with very little development in most plot lines and backgrounds. The interactions with TaeJoo and his father felt so last minute and just left a bad taste in my mouth because it was just so sudden. KangGook was pretty inconsistent with his actions, it felt like they just made his character do certain things just for the sake of the plot instead of developing his character. Getting into the characters now, I quite liked the girl and her character but considering the length and that it was just going to be one season, they should have done away with so much of her involvement.

Onto the actual relationship, this is supposed to be a romance drama. There wasn't really that much actual romantic development that made the relationship and their supposed feelings feel genuine and made me want to see it go further. TaeJoo was so immature and irritating which could mostly be attributed to his age but there was no growth at all. In one of the last scenes of the series, there is a conflict between KangGook and a group of guys. If your supposed love of your life is getting beat, you really just stand there and watch? Wow. No fault to the actors at all though, I quite like them. It really just lies in the writing and direction. When they finally kiss and and it's a beautiful scene, I didn't even feel anything. It was so bittersweet cause I couldn't believe that was just it and I felt so disappointed.

All in all, again it's not the worst. Just hugely disappointing. They should've focused more on their relationship development to flow naturally. I was very excited when I caught wind of this but it just didn't live up to my already normal expectations. It's not the worst show to watch and it is quite short but there are better shows to watch. One show I watched which is a bl after I finished this one is Life ~Love on the Line~ and it is a wonderful drama about the same length as Where Your Eyes Linger and it left me crying. Nevertheless, I'm excited to see more lgbt+ content coming from Korea.
