As a Boxing Fan, I Love It

Warning: Spoilers
I'm a huge boxing fan and going into Levius, I was skeptical at first, but Levius was a big surprise. It takes boxing, then adds a twist with robotic arms which are powered by steam. Obviously, you have to have some suspension of disbelief because robotic arms would break bones and crack skulls, no matter how much armor you have on. And because of how unique this concept is, Levius is an extremely entertaining anime series.

I love the strange world Levius takes place in. It's not Earth and the technology is based from the 1920's-1930's, with the addition of some technical advancements. The cars in Levius add so much to the universe and tone, it's what gives it that 1920's aesthetic.

The boxing matches are really entertaining and well done. There's always something more going on in a fight, like a conversation or a flashback. The editing is what really shines in these boxing matches. I was able to fully understand what's going on and who's throwing the punches and taking the punches. The matches are also very intense because of that.

The character development is really good too. Levius slowly becomes a better fighter each episode; learning new techniques and fighting stances. The biggest issues with the characters are the antagonists. The antagonists are very generic, you got the cheaters and you've got the pompous fighters. The only really good antagonist is Dr. Clown.

Overall, Levius was a pleasant surprise. It respects the art of boxing and adds something new to it. The setting is really interesting and the character development is great. The only issue are the antagonists, who are generic to say the least.
