Ive watched most of miike's films, mostly the yakuza ones. when i saw this cop show, i didnt have much interest. for some reason, 7 years after its release i decided to give it a try. its sorta like Mile22 (2018) and Extraction (2020) in a very dark tone, miike style.
personally i find it intense, emotionally. frustrating at times but in a good way. im sure every other viewer would just wish that the cop shoot the serial killer and get it over with, after all the terrible things he had done and showing not a slightest remorse. many scene makes me silently scream in my head "shoot him in the head!!!". and seeing all the characters who sacrificed to protect such antagonist, thats super frustrating but valid. they take their job seriously.
the ending is sorta predictable but id still wish the protagonist goes brat pitt in se7en. that would be very satisfying but i dont think it will make me feel any better still. id say its one of the better films ive seen in a long time.
