Not exactly flawless, but another great episode

So far, the first season has been fairly good. The first two parts of the Bad Beginning had some problems with part 1 having dialogue that is a bit too wordy, uneven pacing, and while the child acting isn't awful, it wasn't great. The Reptile Room parts 1 and 2 are some of the best episodes in season 1 where the mystery continues to intrigue and the darker tone enhances the drama very well while Aasif Mandvi does a really good job as Uncle Monty, the person who studies reptiles before getting killed by Count Olaf, disguised as Stefano.

The Wide Window Part One is another great episode, albeit not perfect. My only quibbles is that K. Todd Freeman still doesn't do anything for me as Mr. Poe and there were instances where the pacing did drag a little bit long.

Everything else is handled well. The cinematography continues to be well-made, the directing and editing is still good, and the music score continues to impress as it fits the mysterious atmospheric tone. The acting from everyone involved, aside from K. Todd Freeman, is still great. Malina Weissman and Louis Hynes have gotten more confident this time around as Klaus and Violet and Alfre Woodard does a good job as Aunt Josephine. She does nail the kind, but also fierce and tortured person fine although she did overdo it a bit. Patrick Warburton continues to deliver the dry deadpan narration while Neil Patrick Harris continues to shine as the sinister vile Count Olaf.

Overall, not flawless, but another great episode.
