Review of Sadak 2

Sadak 2 (2020)

O boy....no chance....

This is a technically well made movie with a superb performance by Sanjay Dutt with a terrible screenplay and script. It is extremely outdated a concept; it should have been made right after Sadak which came in 94 I think.

The cinematography by Jay I. Patel is beautiful; he has done what was expected of him superbly.

Alia Bhatt tried her best to perform as good as she could and Jishu Sengupta did the same. But the basic premise of the film is just not acceptable anymore. It is not even that actually; the premise is not really that irrelevant but it is the treatment that is extremely dull and outdated. The narrative is extremenly contrived and unrealistic. The VFX, the fake owl, the world outside through the windows, the Kailash parbat in the end, all were terribly executed VFX shots.

The characters were not given enough time to develop and the lack of this time hinders the audience from connecting with them. For what could have been an epic sort of a road film it felt extremely restricted and bound. The openness and the freshness that was desired or that could have been achieved was totally missing.

I am seriously disappointed with this film especially because I am a big fan of Mahesh Bhatt sir. He has been an institution and a legendary filmmaker. If this happens to be his last directorial venture then its a great tragedy of a film.

Overall a major, major, MAJOR disappointment!4 Stars for only Sanjay Dutt's performance, Alia's efforts and lovely cinematography
