Amazing, must-see film!
24 September 2020
This was an amazing, and must-see film! I had the pleasure of watching this during the virtual Toronto Palestine Film Festival, a first Canadian premiere, and I was thoroughly impressed and absolutely loved this film. The intricate narratives woven through the characters and history, against the backdrops of the land and different musical styles kept me captivated throughout the whole journey. I was sad to see this film end, I wanted more. I discovered so much about certain parts of history that I never even had known before. I discovered intricacies of human nature and relationships that are universal across borders, nations, or countries... That these journeys show the resiliency of love and human spirit, despite (or as a result of) the depths of past traumas (whether historical and/or deeply rooted personal experiences). Resiliency especially in the Palestinian context. It was both a sad and happy awakening and realization...that there's so much we have yet to discover, about our own personal selves and others, about how the past, present and future are all interconnected. There is so much depth and many layers in this film and I believe each viewer will come away with their own personal awakenings.
