Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Mercy Mission (2011)
Season 4, Episode 5
6/10
Help is on its way

This continues the run of episodes from the start of Season 4 which are acceptable, lightweight, kid friendly fillers rather than top class Clone Wars drama. You cannot really complain as the show is intended for family audiences not mainly adults. However, these types of episodes are not my favourite.

Thankfully in a couple of episodes time things would return to great form when we get dark, serious themes, powerful storytelling and convincing worlds and characters. This one is just a harmless but uninspiring adventure for our beloved droids.

I always think they could make any 25 minute filler episode brilliant just be having lightsaber duels, space battles, shootouts and not much else. I find the child friendly fantasy episodes a little misguided as I reckon most kids who watch Star Wars would prefer exciting action. But saying that I should not be too grumpy about getting lightweight stuff like this in an animation aimed mainly at the kids.

It is not a thrilling episode at all and I do not personally enjoy most of the humour in this episode but it is not awful, it is harmless and pleasant.

I give credit for nice animation. I give credit for C3PO and R2D2's endearing personalities. I give credit for an effort to show wider universe around the war. I give credit for showing care for the little people struggling in the war torn galaxy.

Underwhelming but inoffensive child friendly filler.

My rating: 6/10.
