The episode ends being enjoyable in large part because the Jensen and Jared started to hit some of their second strive around this time. Singer also rings out some creepy atmospherics from the lackluster script. But there is significant tonal problems present in this episode. It is intended to be a darker, more serious episode but then it has some really goofy bits. The name "The Darkness" is terrible and each time it is used it comes off as parody. The overall episode feels like - much of this season - that it is stuck in autopilot.
