A Timeless Classic With A Beautiful Message
2 November 2020
I absolutely love 70s Bollywood. The heroes and villains, the humour, the hairstyles, the flares, the accents, the approach of modernity but at the same time not forgetting tradition, culture and what makes Indian cinema unique. And Amar Akbar Anthony stands as one of the very best. I first saw it as a child and it still warms my heart decades later. A film which at its very heart, is about love, healing and togetherness, not only between individuals and family, but as a society. Symbolically the mother is India and her sons represent her diversity. And although they have different spiritual paths, they are still from the womb of the motherland, one blood, one heart. Hoon hoon hota hai, paani nahi.
