Sonic 2 was better, if only because two people could play at once, on the same screen, and it was ENDLESSLY entertaining trying to control both Sonic and Tails in a game based on running and jumping as fast as you possibly could.
And then it was even more fun to watch tails die, over and over again, in one player mode because he was insanely dumber, had a hard time keeping up, and served to be as much as a nuisance as he was a help.
