I have to respectfully disagree with the other reviewers on the ending feeling rushed and lacking in substance. Yet I understand how they came to feel the ending was rushed, because it is an M. Knight Shyamalyan like ending.
However, if you piece everything together, the husband had signed everything over to his wife before his surgery, then divorce was not an option. Moral of this story, amoral people should not trust other amoral people.
