The plot thickens

This penultimate episode of the season THE DEEPEST CUT really speeds up the story and moves the plot along in a very satisfying way. While I'm not crazy about the latest development regarding my favorite character Huck, I also realize that there's still a lot of untold backstory to explain things. And this episode is one of the better ones of the season, ironically because of Huck. Much as don't like this spy business for her and want her to be one of the good guys, Annet Mahendru is exceptional as this complex person who plays all the other main characters like a violin. And in retrospect, there were probably a lot of hints and clues throughout the season as to her duplicitous nature. Also, there were some good scenes in the other subplot involving Elton off on his own searching for Silas. Usually, Elton annoys me but the writers pulled out some clever tricks to make his subplot bearable and interesting. The only problem I had with this episode (and thus 9 stars instead of 10) is that I think that the part of Iris being suspicious of Huck was bad writing that came out of nowhere. I might not recall every detail of the season, but at no point has Iris ever acted like she didn't trust Huck. As headstrong as she is and as much as she loves Hope and Felix, she wouldn't have wasted any time going to them to tell them she didn't trust her. Yet all of a sudden, in the episode that requires the plot to move, Iris gets that main character plot armor where she just magically knows that Huck is up to no good. A blip on an otherwise great episode.
