Officer Shooting is the main story
3 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I am writing this review to address the reviewers who think that the initial attack & rape of the family in the opening was the main story, it is not. The main story is the shooting of Terrance Howard and the community outcry that follows.

I believe SVU writers did an outstanding job by presenting a horrific crime to get the viewers engaged and on the side of law enforcement, then throwing the viewer a curveball when it turns out that the wrong person was gunned down. It helped me, as an person of color see from a different perspective -- that of the police. However, we the viewer did not see the shooting, nor do I need to see it to know that 46 shoots being fired at one individual less than 50 feet away is excessive. Yet, I also thought runnin, g from the police and trying to turn around while they are screaming at you is just plan stupid.

As a law bidding person of color, had the officers only fired 3 shots, considering the back story of why they were out there and what was going on, I would have found them not guilty of any wrong doing, because the young man, while innocent, gave the officer cause to shoot by not stopping and following their directive.
