Review of Yodha

Yodha (1991)
5/10
Typical 90s actioner.

Yodha review :

Produced by Morani bros and directed by Rahul Rawail, Yodha was an action packed thriller starring Sunny Deol and Sanjay Dutt in lead roles. Danny was the main villain while Sangeeta Bijlani and Shilpa Shirodkar (in a cameo) were cast opposite Sunny and Sanju Baba respectively.

Sunny and Sangeeta are lawyers who are unaware that Judge Danny is a closet underworld don who operates his activities through Paresh Rawal. Sanju Baba is a goon who is strictly anti-drugs after he couldnt save his love Shilpa from a gangrape due to his cocaine addiction.

Rahul Rawail's direction was good enough for a typical early 90s actioner but somehow, Yodha couldnt wow the audience and was an under-performer at the box office.

Sangeeta and Sunny sizzled together in the 'Whole day whole night' song while Shilpa Shirodkar's 'Mere Gali mein hai aata jaata" became quite popular. The climactic "Duniya mein jeena hai toh" number had a "Walk like an Egyptian" hangover. Bappi Lahiri, of course!!

My only complaint about Yodha is Paresh Rawal who becomes Chaggu kutta and starts barking like a dog in the middle of the movie. Now what could've prompted a great actor like him to stoop to such lows. God knows!!!!
