Review of The Last Hot Lick

So many great things about this movie. Let's start with the extraordinary performance of Jamie Leopold and Jennifer Smieja, who never acted before and yet they're so truthful, raw, intense. The music is obviously a huge part of the movie, but it never overpowers the story. The pace is that of a great indie. And the writing and directing is fantastic: never a frame or a line too much, the director/writer holds back to make you feel the characters pain without having to explain it in the dialogue. Highly recommended!
