Dilan 1991 (2019)

Too much crying

Warning: Spoilers
Was very hopeful but left disappointed. Slow, very anti climactic movie. Poorly written as well. So the main character finally gets with Dilan, knowing he's in a gang, dates him anyway. Then when all the usual gang stuff happens, (like living that gang life, fighting etc.) she's surprised and gives him the ultimatum to stop or break up. Most of the movie, I'd say 80 percent of the time, was her crying or pouting about Dilan living his gang lifestyle. The main character in this movie wasn't likeable at all, mainly because to me, she was very one dimensional. She's young and in love, her whole mind is encompassed in her love for Dilan. There's no other substance to her, and we don't get to see any nuances of her character. The dialogue was "fluffy". There was so much extra banter that was unnecessary that we the viewer could've done without. It didn't contribute much to the plot or characters. The cinematography was decent. Indonesian movies normally have great cinematography, so that was something I was expecting. I think of you're older than 15, this movie night not be as good to you than if you were 11. Overall I don't recommend this movie. Too long, and too slow for very little outcomes in the movie.
