Review of Kairos

Kairos (2020)
4/10
Frustrating and confusing
16 December 2020
Surprisingly there are 2 shows this year with the people from 2 time periods communicating via cell phone: "The Call" and Kairos. It is a different and sometimes difficult premise to accept. The viewer needs to get into the rhythm of this show. Need to concentrate or it can be confusing. Something bad happens then by altering things in the past the present changes. There are flashbacks too so the viewer needs to concentrate hard with all the different scenarios. It is hard to keep track of who knows what and when. The kidnap draws one in to the show. Be prepared for frustrating moments every episode. Many times feel like slapping Han Ae Ri's mother when she doesn't tell what is going on and Ae Ri when she wails. But it is interesting to see how things change when there is alteration to the past. The cast is watchable so they keep the one interested. Shin Sung Rok acts well and tormented when necessary. Nam Gyu Ri is pretty and it is a good role for her to show different facets. Ahn Bo Hyun of Itaewon Class acts quite differently here. With less jumping around in time it could have been much better, less complicated and easier to follow. The story is simple but it's told in an unnecessarily complicated manner.
