Before people start ranting at me and accusing me off every "ism" I have nothing against Greeks nor am I a nationalist despite a couple of Greek Cypriots being rude to me I just think the very idea and execution of this programme is unthinkably stupid and unscrupulous and lets start by having reality check list :-

  • Yes Greeks and Turks have some similarities though this is often exaggerated, I can say generally and at a glance that Americans and Mexicans, the British and the French have many similarities and yet they each make clear that they are very different from one another and have their moments off conflict

  • In the real world both Niko and Nazli will either be hurt with a tragic end or to have to pay a price that will hurt either one of their families ...remember the model Tugce Kazaz till she returned back to her Turkish roots. But to avoid controversy the executors and directors avoided this scenario going in to romantic fantasy in harsh reality there would be no happily ever after.

  • All this series does is expose the ignorance and naivety of both the Greek and Turkish fans of this series. I would say part of this is that they both want to be Western European when in reality they are not because it is not in their nature, Greece belongs to the Balkans and Turkey to the Middle East.

  • For a good comedy drama that will work without changing the series much instead of foreign son in law how about Bosnali damat ... as Niko at first pretends to be Bosnian to Nazli's family ..now that would off worked well that one change for the series were it could of taken its course.
