A Warped Mind

Warning: Spoilers
"I Want My Babies" (a.k.a., "The Wrong Mother") may be summed up in four words: "My eggs, your sperm." That is what the twisted thinking of Vanessa Faraquin has concluded when she addresses Drew Larson as if he were her husband because she had provided the eggs for his twins.

Posing a practical nurse, Vanessa worms her way in the home of Drew and Kaylene Larson after Kaylene has nearly been killed while riding on her bike. It does not take long for the audience to grasp that it was Vanessa at the wheel when Kaylene was violently knocked to the ground.

While on duty in the Larsons' home, Vanessa keeps Kaylene in a groggy state with over-medication. She also kills Kaylene's best friend Samantha, who is the first to get wise to Vanessa's game. The slowest to realize the deception is the pilot husband Drew, who is well-intentioned, but an easy victim of being duped by the warped mind of Vanessa.

The film was a by-the-numbers psycho-on-the-loose film and excessively unpleasant. In the course of the film, we learn a great deal about in vitro pregnancy and related issues such as "cankles," the swelling that occurs in the feet, ankles, and hands in the final trimester.

Raylene Larson had done all of the heavy lifting and grunt work in bringing to term beautiful twin babies, Zooey born first and little Toby. But in the sick mind of Vanessa, the nine months of hard labor of Raylene meant nothing because those were Vanessa's eggs that she believed should be served to her sunny-side up.
