Double Tap (2000)
4/10
A bit of a slog

Warning: Spoilers
DOUBLE TAP is a surprisingly low budget action movie from Hong Kong and one that generally misses the mark despite a good set-piece here and there. Most of the story is extremely slow paced and more of a character piece than plot-centred; we're stuck in a gun range for a very long time, watching characters interacting and training together, before the actual murder plot gets going. Alex Fong is a rather bland cop protagonist and Leslie Cheung isn't looking too well as top marksman Rick; this was made just a few years before his untimely death. A few highlights here and there make it enjoyable in places, and there's a fun 'bullet time' riff on THE MATRIX, but generally it's a bit of a slog.
