A true classic of the Zombie genre

Haters can f' off... this is near the top of the Zombie genre... it isn't perfect, but the only Zombie films that are truly superior are Night Of The Living Dead and Dawn Of The Dead (the originals of course)... this film has the atmosphere, the gore and a steady plot... and the first zombie that bursts out of door on the ship was a great moment in history of zombie films.

On the downside... it takes awhile to get going, the shark fight was silly (why would a zombie retreat??, it's a mindless killing machine), and the molotov cocktail scene could've been handled better (c'mon, we can throw live firebombs at actors... it's Italy not America... did Italy even have safety precautions in those days??)

I loved that it paid tribute to "I Walked With A Zombie" with the voodoo origin, and the trance-like score and sound effects really add to the grim atmosphere.

I've seen dozens of Zombie films... some good, mostly bad... you can certainly do a lot worse than this
