Wild Rovers (1971)
8/10
At lights out of the A-Western came an underrated gem of the dying genre!!!

How the life is an everlasting apprenticeship, when I watched it in 1978 my early thoughts was an average western, after a long waiting this movie arrived in Brazil fully restored and now I've another reading, actually the time had come for A-Western, the cinema industry due the poorest Box-Office starting looking for another profitable genre and thereinafter just made B-Western for TV only, the disaster movies was the new sensation that were a blast to make easy money.

The Wild Rovers outwardly took place around 1890, where two different kind of cowboys work in largest cattle farm on the frozen Montana, the elder Ross Bodine (William Holden) and the youngest Frank Post (Ryan O'Neal) made a reliable friendship, Frank wondering yourself an older cowboy likes Bodine near of fifties that whatsoever has no future at sight and re-routes the question to Bodine, as a seasoned man he tries figure out a proper answer, vis-à-vis Frank suggest a bank robbery that such money could buy verdant lands surround by clean waters at Mexico dully escorted by gorgeous flaming girls.

The veteran stares right through on the greedy Frank, should be a great deal, then at night an unusual robbery held, meanwhile the small quiet city has an ordinary night, either way many trouble came out from nowhere, a cougar attacks them slaying the horse, also killing a female dog that was feeding her soft puppies, on the run in just one horse Frank takes one of them hidden in the jacked, the news spreading fasting at the city, the powerful rancher Walter Buckman (Karl Malden) demands his two sons the young and bad temper John (Tom Skerritt) and the peaceful Paul (Joe Don Baker) also the Sheriff and the Deputy are enough to chase them to recover the farm's money, whenever possible bring them alive.

The long pursued takes place at dawn, countless funny events come up, when a puppy is forceful trading for a mule, taming a wild mare at snow, meanwhile the Sheriff reaching at borderline of his own law territory refuses overtake the state frontier, nonetheless the ranging John Buckman goes ahead has been followed by the reluctant old brother Paul, reaching in a city Bodine and Frank agreed to be a brief relief there, whereas Bodine has a fun night with a girl, the braggart Frank enters in a poker game with high stakes, he ends up seriously wounded at leg, after a gunshots, unable to be helped by a doctor both gets on the road again.

I was baffled when saw the poorest 1.468 votes and 28 lowest reviews on the priceless picture, sputtered along of the IMDB's advent, it's a crying shame, I try wondering why so low rating just 6.5, well sadly I hadn't any fair explanation over such hideousness, maybe in short future it would change, Holden, O'Neal and Blake edwards deserve respect!!

Thanks for reading.
