When Maxwell's brother Nigel (the charmingHarry Van Gorkum) visits from Paris, he puts the moves on Fran realizing that nothing is actually happening between Fran and Maxwell, and Fran begins to contemplate leaving with him. This leads to extended musical montage sequences that are just too sappy to be enjoyable, giving an indication of where the show would be heading in the next two and a half seasons, and while some of the audience is rooting for Fran and Maxwell to get together, the rest of the audience found their involvement too far fetched and forced. I like the characters and enjoy the flirtation between Maxwell and Fran, but obviously, the show was going too far which would ultimately have an impact on the show's legacy for its last two seasons. As far as nanny rom-com's go, this is where you begin to think that it's just jumped the shark.
