Murphy Brown has the Christmas spirit thrust upon her when three abandoned children are thrust upon her as she is about to plan a trip to China with the president. Admittedly not having a motherly bone in her body (something that will change in a few years), Murphy finds her patience tested as they make a disturbance everywhere they go, from giving Jim Dial an ice cream cone crown to breaking up a salad bar, as well as dealing with Corky's aggressive Christmas party planning. It's with the help of Elden and the staff that Murphy finds her inner hidden mother, basically realizing that they are not responsible for their situation in which a mother would give her child away, and begins to show a soft spot for them. You get to see her tear up when social services appears, and it's obvious what the results will be. Even the hardest of hearts towards children will melt when one of the children wishes her a Merry Christmas, leading to Elden having a surprise for them at home, and a not too surprising character in the Santa suit. it's a bit of sweetness mixed in with the show's cynicism, and one that is perfect for the holidays.
