It's yet another China vs Japan movie. And it's not the worst. Its biggest strength is that it doesn't resort to cheap gags like most 70s HK action movies and actually focuses on the plot development quite seriously. But that is also its biggest detriment. For example, the scene where Jackie Chan rallies the crowd to fight against the invading Japs... it tries so hard to be powerful and evoke the strongest sense of patriotism, while in reality just turns out to be laughably cringe.
The action sequences were semi-decent... Nothing too groundbreaking. The plot was pretty typical. The acting was painfully over the top (as usual), and it somehow managed to stumble through 80 minutes of runtime without actually being boring. Now, not being boring doesn't mean it wasn't bad... Because it was. It was just a poorly made movie overall, and I guess that's what I'll remember whenever I think of this movie in the future.
